India's Foreign Trade.

The statistics of India's foreign träde for 1014 are much better, than was anticipated. The total value was 8267 millions (246 millions of merchandise and £21 millions of ballion and specie); Thia total, though $40 millions be'o last year's ia better than 1010 (£53 milliona), or any year preceding 1910. The three years preceding 1914 were

"bocu years, in which, with the aid of high prices and an increased production responding to a large demand for raw materials, India's trade bounded forward at an 'un- precedented pace, leaving the country in a better position to face an adverse year than would otherwise have been the case. During the first half of 1914, moreover, India's trade was extra- ordinarily good, expo ts showing an increase of over £15 millions. On the year, sa whole, boweror, exports declined by £22 millions, or 13.0 per cent, amounting to £142 millions. Importe totalled £104 millions, a decrease of £16 millions, or 13 per cent.

Mineral Products of the United States.

The mineral products of the United States are discussed in a small publication ng boing die- tributed by the United States Gro logical Survey, which, conta'n a mass of useful information con- cerning the minerals and their values and production in all the States during 1912 and 1913. The figures of the mineral production from 1880 to 1913 are abo given, from which it appears that during that period the value of the metals increased from 37 millions sterling to 177 millions, while during the seme period the non-metallic minerala increased from less than 35 millions to over 312 millione; and the total mineral production from 72 to over 489 millions, the total fo 1913 showing an incrOBES aver 1912 of more then 40 milliona The value of the metals imported for consumption in 1013 w38 £47,400,000, and of those exported £83,800,000. For the period from 1880 to 1913 inclusive the value of the ttl mineral production was £7,030,100,000.
