Specie Bank Fallura. Bombay, 10th September.-In the plaint filed by the liquidator of the India Specie Bank against the directors and deceased direc- tors' heirs the principal items of the losses of tho Back are shown as follows:-(a) Silver specula- tion, Rs. 1,11,41,000; (b) advan- ces on pearle, Rs. 38,43,000; (o,; Shares and badlah operations, Ra. 14,81,CC0; (d) Imprudent loans, Rs. 4,48,000. Although such á big loss was incurred in silver epeonlation in three years the directors continued to plice before the shareholders balance eheels and a profit and loss ac- count showing very large profits, and paid large and increasing dividends and bonuses. They further assured the shareholders- that the Back did not hold an ounce of silver and were taking sposibl care to lend the Banke fands on safo sepurities. The amounts of such losses in the silver operations were included in the said balance sheets and accounts, in the amounts allow as advanced on secured loans.
