The C. N. steamer Yingohow, which was lying at Swatow, experienced unsettled weather on the 13th with gasty winds from the SE. the glass reading at 4 p.m.. 20:02. On the morning of the 14th the glass had fallen to: 29 53 with a moderate East wind and, as there were signs of approsobing bad weather, the vessel was moved out and anchor- ed in Junk Bay. At 3 p.m. on that date the wind came away strong from the NE. barometer 20.44 and the second anchor was les go. Very hard squalls and typhoon rain were experienced but at midnight the wind fall away to light though the glass had fallen to 20.40. At 2 a.m.. oa the 15th the wind came away again in typhoon force from WSW. and at 3 am the typhoon was blowing in fall foros, the gloss having fallen to rain equalls. At 8 a.m. the 29.37, accompanied by very heavy

weather commenced to moderate and the wind took off rapidly. Farther South of Swatow the glass fell much lower, the
