According to the Daily Tele graph, the Marconi wireless control apparatus installed by the Clyde Lighthouse Trust at Gourock, from which signals are operated at Fort Matilda and on a buoy in the fairway, in mid to be working well. The apparatus has been combined with the Stevenson Moyes automatio acetylene fog gan. This has been erected on an isolated besoon in mid-ses, and has not only bean left unattended for weeks on end but has daring this time been exposed to all weathers and to the " jamming" from strong wireless signala received from ships paming close at band. It has been pointed out, on Occasions when the tonnage of the harbour has been referred to, that, of foreign nationalities, Germany emaily heads the list, both in the tonnage represented by that country in Colombo harbour. and also in the number of abips belonging to her passing through the port. The expansion of Germany's trade with the East has no doubt in- creased considerably during the past few years, and this will be seenat a glance from the publish ed figures.
