AN INTERESTING POSIBILITY:

A good deal of speculation is rife concerning the recent visit of Mr. Johnson, Vice-President of the Bethle hem Steel Works, to Fakien.
It is understood that he has stopped at several points en route from Shanghai, and that he spent several daya at San Tuso.
His visit is possibly contected with the Government desire to build up a large naval bazo.

Shanghai, Received Feb. 19. The shooting of two Japanese, one fatally, on the Nantao Buad at Shanghai a fortnight ago is assuming a serious aspect. The tragedy occurred while Chinese detectives wore Barresting alleged rebels aboard a stasmer and it is anderstood that the Chinese assert that the Japanese were concerned in the plot with Chinese.
The affair has been made the subject of diplomatic negotiations between the Japanese and Chinese authorities and also between British and Chinese owing to the fact that the shooting occurred aboard & British vessel.
