Mr. Martin Nash, the American representative of the company, while in New York atated that the first of these new vessels will, until the Panama Canal is opened, go from and return to Europe via the Orient, but on the opening of the canal for general traffic, the vessels will return to Europe via Panoma and will make Manila one of the porta New York. That these new ships of call is practically a certainty, for while the majority of the other great lines trading in the Far East are devoting more atten tion to the Philippines, it is far from likely that they will be neglected by the Royal Mail 8,P.
