The Chins Commercial Company's small steamer Yak Yui has been wrecked on a rock to the west of Reef Island, Dear Port Arthur.

'Out of 212 passongora an'i crow, only 33 were saved.

Several steamersand lannches went to the assistance of the distressed vessel, but in the heavy seas the steamer slipped off the rocks and foundered in deep water.

The Captain (Norwegian) and another European were saved by means of á raft,

A Japanese launch picked up a number of Chinose.
