But when she was in the boat, the Rappahannock's officer in charge decided there was romore room, and pushed off. Afer that in the confusion nobody took the trouble to send the three Polack children to the steamship their mother was on, and instead they were put on the Kroonland. Their father, an East Side mer- chant, met them on their arrival at New York and took care of them.
