At 4 o'ulock this morning General Lai Ting-sun communicated with the Harbour Offics at Shanghai, intimating his intention of bombarding the Woosung Forts. At 4.30 am the bombardment began, the forth, however, having taken up the aggressive and fired on the Hoi Ti and Hoi Chow.
