Home. Rubber Share Markét.

Messrs. Zorn & Leigh-Hunt's mid-wookly report on the Rubber Slidre Market dated Dec. 6 is as follows: The improved tone to which we alluded in our last week's report has become more naked during the last day or two, and there is an increasing amount of good-class investment buying. Shares of the type which are al present wonted by buyers #sem to be in decidedly smallĮ supply at current prices; and as dealers are naturally very nly of solling such sharos "short," quo- tations have in a large number of cares, advanced during the week. The November rubber out- puts are highly satisfactory, and indicate that many companies will show much better total crop ro turris for the year 1911 than had{ at one time been anticipated. The price of the raw material is very firm, with a gradually hardening| tondency; and encouraging "for- ward" sales for 1912 continue to be made by various compaines. One such sale was effected yester- day as high 4s. 8d. par lb.

Bullion:

Mesars. Samuel Mantagu &. Co.'s weekly circular dated Lon- don, Decamer 14, 1911, states that "about £800,000 arrived in the form of bar gold, of which £100,000.has been bought for the Continent. The amount reservod for. India is rather larger than ex- pected owing to the grounding of the T. & O. 5. Delhi, which carried £101,050 in bar gold, £8,750 in gold coin; and 185, 500 in bar. silver from London, The remainder of tho har gold will be sent into the Bank of England as it leaves the refiners hands. The total of this week's shipment of bar. gold to India is . £100,000 at the time of writing

possibly more orders may arrive oven later. During the week the| efflux was £375,000." Writing of silver the circular states.

The position of the market is becoming more normal, as is im- plicated by the comparative alighatness of the premium on cash silver.

Two chusos combine to give more freedom from speculative influences. There have been ex- ceptionally heavy arrivals of silver from New York, together with the unusual occurrence of a shipment from the East, namely, a consign- ment of 144 bars by the P. & O. 8. Mores from Bombay. The second cause is that the easier tone of prices fias brought the inarket into touch with China, on account of which country purchases of forward silver have been made with considerablo freedom.

No shipment of silver from Sun Francisco to Hongkong has taken place since the week ended Nov. 16 last-the premium for spot silver in London having made it worthwhile to divort silver from San Francisco, vis New York to London, and the fact contributes} to account for the heavy arrivals to which we have referred.

The total of silver rupees hold in the Indian Trossury Reserve has fallen half a orore; thus the gain recorded last week has been reduced by half.

Meurs. Mocalta & Ġoldsmid's weekly circular dated London, Decembar 15, 1011, states that silver buying has been chiefly bears covering, but some pur chases have been made for China where the exports are improving and the exchange nearer in
