Tho Laconin, which was launch- ed on July 27 hom the yard of Messrs. Swan, Hunter and Wig- ham Richardson, is the third Cũ- nard steamer put into the water from the Wallsend yard in the short space of just over twelve -months. Tho Franconia WUB launched in July of last year, und nude her first voyage in, Fob- ruary. The Ascania was com pleted and entered the company's Canadian service in May last. The Laconia, which was built on the borth vaunted by the Franconia,} will be completed at the end of the year The Cunard Company, within the course of loss than thirteen months, has thus addod no less than 62,350 tons to its fleet. The new vessel will be attachod to the Liverpool-Boston service, ux- cept for the winter season, when she will join the Cunard fleet cruising between Now York and Mediterranean, Egyption, and Adriatic ports.
