According to the information obtained by a Chronicle representative, there, seems to be no doubt that the explosion was, caused by an outbreak of fire on board a bulk, No. 1,069 belonging to Messrs. C. Nickel & Co., Ltd, stevedores, Kobe. Over four tons of explosive wera tored in the hulk, consisting of 3,094 caser of dynamtis, so cases of detonators, and 2,305 cases of gelignite, a powerful explosive used in coal-mining.
