A very good start. Spirit Level took the land 9n the rails. Galloping past the Stand on the first round the leaders were Spirit, Levél, Younger Brother and Job Troster in the order named. Spirit Level was-abond by two lengths at Bowrington gate with Boreas second and Goshawk third. Spirit Level was

lending at the bottom of the incline. Walnut

Tree and Younger Brother crept up in com pany and sopa drew level with the leaders Spirit Level showed to the frost in the bome o(raight and was bugging the rails, white Yousger Brother on the pulside came up in a spanking gallop with Walnut Tree lying behind. A fide race ensued to the winning post which Younger Brother maunged to win by a neck from Trewint second and Sunny Jim a good third.

The result of this race was a complete surprise. Olive Tree and Rebber Chief shared fancy between them. At the start Olive Tree settled down in front of Rufus, Rubber Chief, Rajpot and Triad, That was the order past the Stand lo ibe first round. The field spread out 00 galloping 'down the strelch and in processional order raced past the Football Stand. Triad closing up with Ref put took fourth and then third place from Rub ber Chief, down the hill: Olive Tree was still in front at the village bend, Rufus boing se cond. Rajput was completely out of the race. Rubber Chief, on the cutside, spurted and got into second place when Rufus had displaced Olive Tree for the honour of front place. Rubber Chief challenging id not overtake Rufus who won by hair a length. Triad was a good third.

Tab large field of twelve posies entered - Thara was considerable delay in getting the field away; Snooker being responsible for no less than four false starts, at the first Cabbage Trea being left at the post. When the flag fell Bapaker cut the way from Grayback, Tomahawk boing third, Lightfoot fourth and Roumanian Chief last, Going down the Incline Snooker was leading by two lengths from Gr. yback, Tomahawk having surrender- ⚫ed his third place to Lightfoot. At the village band Snooker was still landing and Lightfoot crept into second place. In the straight home Spooker made the best of his advantage on the rails, and Lightfoot bad lost his place to Groy- beck. Tomahawk was now coming up strong on the outside and displaced Greyback is the second place, being very near winning the race, having lost to Suonker by a short lengt
