A vary pleasing ceremony took place at the R. N. Horpital last Tuesday morning when Deputy Inspector General William Tail, M.B., in & few wall-chosen words, prasnated Sick Benb Steward William H. Payne with the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. The whole of the medical staff, including the officers, the Sisters and the Europeans were present at the interesting function. After the presente slop the company was photographed. Mr. Payne was the recipient of hearty congratula tlons from ble colleagues on the well-deserved honour which has been conferred upon him for services well and faithfully rendered.

A Hazeland, Acting Attorney-General, instucted by Mr. F. B. L. Bowley, prosecuted. The prisoners were undefended. The first prisoner pleaded guilty to the charge while the others entered a plea of not gulity.

The Allorney-General stated that the pri soners were charged with selling 116 pieces of counterfeit coln in Hongkong dollars. on the 4th December last. The transaction look place in a certain house, in which all three prisoners were concerned. The Police laid a trap for the prisoners by giving a ceftala wit' 2016 whom he would call some money with which to buy the counterfeit caid, which (con sisted of $116, including $58 in 20-cent pieces. The prisoners were then caught in the trap. “
