Sir Havilland de Suusmarez, Chief Justice, delivered his decision on the application made by Mr. J. C. E. Douglas representing Mr. Butler Wright, chief accountant of the Canton-Kowloon railway (Chinese section), that the venue of trial in the action brought against the accused charging him with embezzlement of railway funds, be changed from Canton to Shanghai.
The ground of appeal was that Mr. Butler Wright feared he would be unable to get an 'impartial jury in Canton.
