(4) Signboards in Japaness-japanese shops in America sometimes display signboards writ ten in Japan, Shops' which make the Japanese their principal customers may be employing these signs for the purpora of attracting Japanese, but the boards appear to create a peculiar impression on the Americans. This may seem a trivial matter, but as a matter of fact the signboards not only drive away Ameri- can customers, but send to create a feeling among the Americans that the Japanese are not more amenable to Americas manners and customs than the Chinese.
