SHEFFIELD TOY'S LONG LOST GRANDFATHER,,
A story combining romance and mystery to no extraordinary degree was told to a Morning Leader representative by Mr W. Brookes Palmer, solicitor, of Lincoln's-in-field. It concerns a will involving no less than twenly millions of money. At present, for good reasons which will appear, it is impossible to verify the existence of this huge fortune, but Mr. Palmer, notwithstanding that he has a solicitor's in- atfäctiva distrust of romances, told: our repre- sentative that he had aq reason to dou it that a very large sum was actuallyawaiting a humble Nottingham family named in the will" as beneficiarios.
"Ou 22 Jan,” bg said, '!1 rsceived at my office by post a packet containing a letter and a will bequeathing property of the value of o millions sterling to be divided among three people-a woman named Rogers, wild of a working jaweller of Nottingham, her son—a lad of 13 living at home with his parents—and ber sister, living in Lincolnshire
The will was signed in the name of Loyen- gardie, and appoiated me sole executor, Tas felter, which, like tha, will," was written in a trembling hand, was dated merely "Sheffield,” and requested me to apply the 300,000, which was the lad's share, in such a manner ast thought best for his advantage.
"It was further stated that the property con- sisted of land and securities is Rio de Janeiro.
TOO FANTASTIC.
The thing seemed so fantastic that after a cursory glance I put it aside for later examina

la the train on the way to Sheffield. The stranger mentioned that be was valet to an old. man named Lovengardie, who lay very ill, at Sheffield, and Rogers at once remarked that his mother's father, who left her 40 years ago for South America,'bare that name. The valet replied that his master had just returned from South America, and after discussion of the coincidence-they-came-to-lo agreement that"| Rogers should call on the old man that even- ing. He met the valet in Sheffield during the evening by appointment, and they proceeded by tram and on foot to a large house in the Eccleshall district.
THE LONG LOST GRANDSON.
Here Rogers was conducted to the bedroom of the mysterious Mr. Lavengardie, who lay evidently dying, and after the old, man's ques tions had been satisfactorily answered, he admitted the lad to be his grandson, following it up with the announcement of his intention, in order to atone for his desertion of 40 years 560, of leaving his whole fortune to his surviving children.
Belore Rogers left, he was handed by the valet a farga picket to be posted, addressed to me. This was the strange comtnugication con- taining the 10,000,000 will, which I found awailing me at my office next maroing,
"It appears that the old man had died the same night a few hopes after his grandson's visit, The valet seat alaller to Rogers (who was visiting his uncle in Sheffield) informing him of the fact, and counselling him to go to London and see me, and the lad, notwith standing, that his father advised him to have nothing to do with-it, duly came up,'t
That was the story which Frank' Rogers told the amazed solicitor.
