LABOURERS, BENT' BACK.

A Tokyo message to the Aunki saye -Tha: Gorman steamer Zandralinckif", which arrived Cat Yokohama at 6 am; on the 18tb ultimo from Mexico, carried a large number of Chineis

· labourers, who were refused permission to land in Mexico. The steamer had proceeded from Hongkong to Mexico with 416,Chinese labour. ark. The Mexican health officials declared that all the labourers were suffering from trachoma, and refused them permission to land. Pro- tests were made in vain by the captain of the. steamer and the overseers of the labourers, and the steamer, left the Mexican port on the 15th August for China. During the voyage, kakke broke out among the Chioase, and 53 of them died from the disease. On the morning "of their arrival at Yokohama,, another man died. Besides this, Fɔny or fifty patients were lying on board is a critical condition. Tos steamer put in at Yokohama, on account of its supply, of, food and coal having fallen short. The loss to the contractor for the labourers.ja estimated at about £100,000.--Jop in Chronicle.

*The typhoon has crossed Central Luzon and is now situated pot far from the W. coast'ia about 15" to 17" Lat. is moving towards W. N.W. and bad weather will prevail over the N. part of the China Sea during the next two or three days.

The depression in the North is still shown over the N.E. part of the Sea of Japan.

Pressure is highest over Chios to the North of the Yangtze.. It has bowever given way over that area since yesterday.
