From what can be gathered, from conver sations with the officers of the Japanese fleet, it is apparent that the people of Japas are preparing to give the battle ship fleet n rousing reception on its arrival in Japan. The officers we all anxious to know of the progress of the fleet and the probable time of its arrival in Jupin, and all expressed satisfaction with the arrangements

that have been made.

A COMMITTEE has been appointed by the Japanese Government to consider the present Treaties with Japan and decide in what respect they shall be amended. The existing Treaties do not expire until July 1911, twelve years from the date they went into operation, but if it is desired to terminate a Treaty, the contracting parties must give one year's notice.
