A REPORTED ATLANTIC SERVICE, '

According to the Azahl, the N. Y. K, cos. siders that many of the steamers now running on lis European service, most of which are of about 6,20 tont, ara, too small for the trade under the present conditions. It will conse quently arrange to replace some of them by the new vessels of about 8,500 tons which are under construction at Kawasaki Dockyard and the Mijsu Bishi Dockyard at Nagasaki. The vessels thus taken off the European line will be employed by the Kaisha on an Atlantic service. The Kaisha will noi establisha regular service in the first instance but will tentatively endeavour to attract cargo at Amer can and European poris, with a view to eventually establishing a strong, regularilne. When the arrangements are completed, the Kaisha will ask the Govern- ment for assistance and will endeavour to put large and fast vessels on the service, in order to meet the competition of foreign passenger steamers.
