The newest mountain links are at 'Montana- sur Sierre, five thousand feet above the pea, where an excellent eighteen-hole course has been laid out by the Montana Golf Club, which in is connection with the Palace Hotel, 'It was planned by Fremantle, ex-champion of Swisstand, and professional at Hybres and A HOUSE in KNUTSFORD TERRACE, Samades, and Mr. C. I must refer to the tenth, which is known as, the "Golfer's Paradise,” and to, the fifteenth, both of which are perfect in their way. To the. tenib hala it is zço yards from a high-place teo to a green, which is situated on the higher of Two terraces beyond à rough valley. It is carry all the way, and a clean hit full shot is required to reach the lower terrace. The name of "Golfer's Paradise" may be given to it owing to the beautiful por- roundings; but the man who does not get up will be more likely to call it "Hades." The fteenth is a short hola of 110 yards; but woe and sorrow await the player who fail to get through the narrow fairway between trees-and- the penalties for an over-carrying shot ako noi pleasant to contemplate,
Many of the other holes are most interesting. though I cannot go into detalls; but I cannot conclude this aburt notice without an- al'uiion to the sporting nine-hole putting course which is near the club-house. Many a non-golfer has there caught the fever; and most of them have been wise enough to maka oss of the profes- sional, F. Phillips, who is a very capable in
structor.
