The photo of Cheng Peb-ping was taken after death, as he lay shot at the Anking Bureau of Ordnance. Ma Tre-chi's photograph repre- tents him in ordinary native clothes, but by this time his head must be hanging in a dage at the city gate of Anking with those of Haz Hsi-lin and Chen Fob-ping: The aliases adopted by the defunct revolutionists are not without interest; Chan Pah-ping's "Kuang Fu-tre" im plied that his ambition was to conquer the whole- Empire back to the possession of a purely Chinese dynasty. After reviewing the facts as already recorded in these columns, and the authorities cited on behalf of both sides, his Honour said the most he could do would be to order the delivery up by the defendant to the plaintiff of the in. denture of mortgage, the subject matter of the sait upon payment by the plaintiff of the sum of $10,000. In the event of the $10,000 not being paid thed this 'action would be considered as dismissed.
