A Southern Manchurian Railway loan of £4000,000, guaranteed by the Japanese Goverment, will be issued in London and Switzerland on the 19th inst, at 97, and 5% interest.

New York, May 19. America's industrial invasion of the Far East is now in full swing and Japan 'is pouring a golden stream into the. United States for steel rails, care and locomotives. Twenty million dollars already have been expended in this country for fallrand supplies to be used in the construction of the South Manchuria Railroad, and it, is now learned that contracts involving | millions of dollars are pending.. Deliveries of rails are being made and for the next three months steamships chartered by Japan will ply across the Pacific bearing cargoes of steel and iror.

from the above total.

The maxim practice was on three occasions carried slowly sad arrangements were made to instruct the men carefully in the various failures that are liable to occur with these guns, by put ting dummy rounds or bad cartridges, etc, in the bells at intervals, by this means a more thorough knowledge was gained by the men than by ordinary rapid practice.
The 15 pr. B... practice was carried at a towed target for the first time, the target repre sented a rowing boat or pinnace moving at about 6 mots and having only a two-foot free. board was by no means easy for Volunteers who da. no haya many opportunities for practice and a large number of them were recruits.

REMARKS,
The camp was laid out belter than in previous years, and the tents were allotted to each "ub-division, which gave mare definite res ponsibility to the N.C.0.4, this proved satis. factory and improved the general discipline.
The camp was again lit throughout, with electric light by the engineer company. The members of this Company did excellent techni. cal work under the R.E. instruciors.
