THE LATE MIXED COURT INCIDENT.
In reply to a telegram from-H. E-Tang Day by day new possibilities of our Philip, Shao-yi in regard to the dispute between pine resources are brought to light. The lat Great Britain and China concerning the est is the possible evolution of a seedless Shargħai riots of December 1905, Viceroy mango. For the information of possible scof. Tuan Fang states that he has instructed the fers it should perhaps be stated that the seed. Customs Tamtal of Shanghai to proceed to less orange was once considered impracticable, Nanking to consult in person, prior to the The s'one of the mango is a confounded opening of negotiations with the British nuimace. Not only does it take up space representative at Shanghai in March or April. which might be devoted to the luscious mango H. E. Tuan is of opinion that, if Sir J. The promised elimination of the stone from the mango will therefore be more welcome than that of the seed from the orange, or the core from the apple.
The properties of the new remedy are of a cleansing and healing character, and, strange to relate, the natives who are afflicted with the disease have shown a decided desire to have it applied in their cases.' Those treated have reported themselves as feeling greatly improved They have appeared, better, and there have heen visible results in healing.
Extract of eucalyptus is the remedy. Goodhue has steamed the leaves and wigs of Dr. the Australian gum tree and extracted the nil. This oil is diluted and in certain quantities is put into hot baths, into which the patients are placed
about two months and Dr. Goodhue feels very. The experiment has been in progress for
much encouraged. There has not been suffi- cient time to enable any definite results to be Announced. The results, however, are said to surpass those of the Goʻo treatment, the remedy discovered by a Japanese physician who was formerly in these islands, and the eucalyptus baths have displaced the Goto treatment.
1 lule reliance is placed by local, medical men on the X-ray treatment for leprosy. It is not being attempted at the seulement. Effects of the X-ray are sometimes too injurious,' it' is allege to warrant the local authorities attempt- ing such treatment until after more complete reports have been received from the medical men who are using it in cases of leprosy else
