Mark Twain, Richard Watson Gilder, editor of the Century: William Hayza Ward, editor of the Independent; Thomas R. Lounsbury,
professor of English literature at Yale and critical writer on literary subjects; Brander Matthews, Isaac K. Funk, the editor and | publisher of the Standard Dictionary-these are some of the names that are un the roll of the Simplified Spelling Board.
