But poisomug is not method of destroying the pest. Digging-out is a favourite method on some stations. At one place along the Murrumbidges that I have in mind they swear by this method. They here give the rabbits up as a hopeless case right on the river-banks, and fence off that portion, and do the same with sand-hills. The rest of the property in aystematically gone over and the burrows dug-out. There are some 200 dogs kept waiting for the rabbits as they uneige from the various exits, and few escape. Flooding-out the burrows, and dealing it out with sticks to the would-be excapter as they crawl out drip- ping wet, is another method which is con- sidered particularly effective, but plenty of water is required. This is a method which the owner of North Yanco intenda resorting to, now that he has plenty of saler from the Cudgel Creek cutting.
Driving rabbits into a cul-de-sac specially prepared is another means by which thousands are slaughtered at a time. Along the wire-net- ting fences one sees in the country big pits, in which numbers are trapped. Foxes account for many rabbits, and crows kill a few. Reynard slyly waits in the vicinity of the holes, and pounces upon his quarry eie he has barely peeped out of the top. But, as foxes prefer lambs' tongues to anything else, they are not regarded by squatters in the light of allies. A couple of crows are considered a match for bunny, but they have to catch him first. One will seize him by the hind-leg, while the other assails him with flapping wings in the front. Crows, however, are a scourge to yonog lambs, so that the land-holder has to depend upon artificial means of combating the rabbit plague,

The taw requires this to be done, but it is an enactment difficult to enforce. It is this suspicion which is largely at the root of the antipaiby of the man on the soil towards the idea of such a thing as a rabbit industry, It appeals to him ar, in effect, trying to undo the good work that those who want the land for wool growing and cultivation, and not for rab- bits, have been attempting under great dif- ficulties for years past.
