new directorate. The following is the reference made by our contemporary to this subject:

To-morrow, an extraordinary meeting of the above Company will be held at the head office. The object is to propose and pass some important resolutions, relating to the liquidation and reorganisation of the present company. The shareholders for some considerable time past have felt that they should be represented. John 'rentice as Chairman and Managing on the Board. The present Directors, with Mr.

Director, fully realise that this desire is quite reasonable, and they have intimated to the shareholders their willingness to meat their wishes.

We do not propose to recapitulate the past history of the Company, but it is a well-known fact that the interests of the shareholders have not been considered in the way they should have, during the reign of Mr. Twentyman. Since he has retired, the whole scene is changed, and the gentleman who is now the Managing Director has the full confidence of the share- holders and public. It is a matter for con gratulation that such is the case, and we feel sure that the successful working of the premier Dock Company is of the most consequence, either directly or indirectly, not only to the shareholders, but to everyone who is com. inercially interested in Shaoghai.

the present Buard will meet the shareholders We hear on good authority, that to-morrow in a perfectly friendly manner.

The notice convening the meeting contains a resolution that the name of the Company shall be changed to the Shanghai Dock Company, Limited. To our mind there is not the slightest in Shanghai, the Company should bear the doubt that, as the largest concern of its kind
