POST-OFFICE FOR KOWLOON:
GOVLINMENT CALLS FOR TENDERS
Residents in Kowloon will be pleased to. learn that the Government, has decided to proceed with the work of erecting a post-office for the benefit of the community on the main land. The scheme has been under considera tion for some time, and the strong reasons sub. mitted by Kowloon residents for a post-office which would be situated in their midst have determined the Government to accede to the request. No doubt the suggestion would have been adopted and curried into effect some time #go, had it not been that various other schemes blocked the way. Apparently the Public Works Department now finds itself in a position to proceed with the work and give the time and tiention necessary to the construction of the new Post Office. In ihe latest issue of the Government Gazette a notice appears calling fur tenders for the erection of the Kowlous post office, and these leaders will he received at the office of the Colonial Secretary, until noon on Tuesday, the 13th February. One of the conditions which the successful tenderer Persistent rumours are current in New York. must observe is that no week will be permitted thai Ambassador Wright is empowered to an Sundays. The people of Kownon may discuss the sale of the Philippines withthus expect to have a post-office of their own Tokio, the American Government regretting before many months have passed, a costly and burdensome acquisition.
