Englehardt was thus left sorrowing and alone, and he never seemed to recover from the shock of Lutrow's untimely end, and it was -noticed that he began to pine away with sorrow and loneliness. He would not hear of leaving his beloved sun-grove, and was at, last struck down with a severe illness. The Covernment medi. cal officer proceeded to Kabakon in a launch, and Englehardt was placed on board, to be con veyed to the hospital. As the launch left the island the poor fellow raised himself,' and gated. lovingly at the island until it became a speck in the distance, then, without a word he laid himself down again, and his spirit gently passed-Sydney Daily Telegraph.

Amongst the many remarkable tenets of re ligion professed by this sect was one probibit ing marriage in any shape or form, each mem ber of the sect to be necessarily a celibate. The chief aim and object of the sect being to overe
come sickness and death, or, as they described it, to become like God Himself, obviated the necessity of human propagation, and made tha sun-worshippers look on marriago as an xbiyen. of passions that should be overcome if the ideal state was to be ranchad, and therefore a heinous crime.
It was also their belief that living, a naked, abstemious life, they would eventually come to such a state, bodily, that they could exist with. out eating or drinking and be endowed with
at will wherevosvar they pleased, even to the Sun itself.
