PAGANINIS ISLAND.
At the feet of the Esterelles Mountains in the Mediterranean lie three islands almost within a stone's throw of each other. The largest is Ste Marguerite, famous for its fortrses, in which was Imprisoned the Man with the Iron "Mash though we know now that it was only a strip of valvet-and in later years Marshal Baraino," The second island, St. Honorat or Lillo de Lorlas, is famous for its monastery, which was founded to the fifth century, and is believed to be the oldest in the West of Europe. The third, island taken its name from a monk'who was strangled there by the Saracens in the sixth- century, and is called Saint Forreal. This is the island we have called Paganini's for it was the burial place of the great musician for five years. It is little more than a rock thinly covered with earth, but it is blue with the iris, Was though moreels of the sky had fallen on it.” I talked with an old fisherman who was born just about the time that Paganini'died, and he scoffed at the idea of the musician having been | buried on Saint Ferreol Ho said that until ̧ quite recently the fisherman on the coast, bad been forbidden to make a fire on any of the islands to cook their fish for, breakfast, except on Saint Ferreal. He argued that they would have been sure to have noticed any dlaturbance of the soil, and would certainly not have held their peace. But he had never heard a word about it.
