1-Objecting that any discrimination should be made between immigrants and travellers from China, or Chinese residents, in America, and those from any other country.
3-That no discrimination shall be made between the examinations or measurements of Chinese and these from any other country, at ports of entry. The naked examinations of Chinese shall be discontinued.
3-That the buildings provided for the shel ter of Chinese immigrants awaiting examina. tion at parts of entry shall be the same as those provided for the shelter of the people from any other country. No buildings such as water houses shall be specially erected for Chiniso. alone, and in case of sickness, Chinesa shall be allowed the attendance of physicians just as the people from any other country.

in China are entitled to admittance without be. ing hampered by all sorts of troubles or difficul ties, and the examination of passports and of persons shall be made withio a week from the time of their arrival at part of entry.
5-That in the bearing and examination of Chinese immigrants and passports, friends and
relatives of the immigrant may be allowed to be present and, in case of disapproval, the im- migrant may be allowed to engage a lawyer to
· make an appeal, and that his perition shall not pass through the hands of the original examiner.
6. That no objections shali be made to Chinese students in America as to their choice of study and their choice of schools, and the school expenses being delrayed by the students themselves, restrictions limiting the amount of ready' money shall be the same as those for students from any other country. Chinese students may be allowed to work outside of school hour, to support themselves while pursu. ing their education, if they find it necessary to do so, without being regarded as coolies or ⚫ prohibited labourers.

ANCIENT RUINS IN RHODESIA
Richard N. Hall, who bas given eight years to the study of ancient manaments in Southern Rhodesia, says that none of the bundreds of ruins has been more than partially explored. Many important ruins have been seen only by casusi travellers, and the work of unearthing only a part of the Great Zimbabwe area would be more than the labour of a lifetime. Still, researches bave made progress in the past few years. There are in Rhodesia no less-than goo distinct ruins and groups of ruins. Only a *** few scores of these are entitled to rank as "ancient. The larger part of them probably does not date back of the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries,

There is overwhelming evidence at the Great Zimbabwe of ancient civilization and arts possessed by the builders of the earliest period.
