In connection with the running of the West River boats between Hongkong, Canton and Wuchow, a new arrangement has been made by the three companies most interested in the traffic, which should appeal to those who have occasion to make the trip. As is generally known, the three lines concerned, Messrs. Jar dine, Matheson & Co., Messrs. Butterfield & Swire, and the Hongkong, Canton & Macuo Steamboat Co. are amalgamated under the general name of the British West River Steam- boat Company, and for some considerable time the management of the passenger traffic has
