NEW CODE,
We have received from the. Hongkong Observatory a new code of meteorological signals which comes into force at Hongkong apon New Year's Day. They are the same‘as those at present in use at Shanghai, and will be hoisted on the mast beside the time-ball at Kowloon Point for the information of mastern of vessels leaving the port. They do not neces sarily imply that bad weather is expected. The signals are as follows
A come polat upwards indicates a typhoon to the North of the Colony.
A cone point upwards and drum below in- dicates a typhoon to the North-East of the Colony.
