Bro. T. Lyons next gave "Sister Lodges and Visitors."

Won. Bro, T. F. Hough responded, and said that gathering was of peculiar significance from the fact that Wor. Bro. Last was the first brother under the Scottish Constitution who had been sent to the East and had the honour of being installed by Dr. Jordan, the District Grand Master of Scottish Freemasonry in Hongkong and South China. He was sure he was but the precursor of many worthy Scots Masons to come along and receive a like honour at the hands of the District Grand Lodge (applause). He congratulated their new Master from his heart, as he was sure all the East to receive that highest honour by the visiting brethren did, on his being sent to acclamation from the Lodge. It was a unique celebration, and he would look-back-upon it with a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction. In conclusion War. Bro. Hough, on behalf of the visitors, said a hearty good welcome was always accorded by the Naval and Military Lodge and he tendered the lodge their heartiest thanks, and hoped they might all be long spared to participate in many similar ré-unions, (Applause).

Wor. Bro. P. D. Hyeli next gave the health of the newly installed Master, and said that the majority knew of his many sterling qualities. He himself could assure them that he found

many hands, but it was impossible to ascertain who was the original finder. It was therefore difficult to say in what region these sands were secured, whether it lay to the north of the Wall or the south thereof. To the north of the Wall gate, known as Taoliangkow, about five miles, a cliff overhangs the river, in which titaniferoua Octa-iron is found in quantity with the usual asso. ciate of platinum, in very small proportion. This left the impression that platinum sands must be sought some distance south of this

itself. When the journey was made the river position in the immediate vicinity of the Wall was in flood so that sand prospecting was almost an impossibility,

Upon getting into the open sea she struck the heavy inonsoon then prevailing, and a heavy swell running at the time, caused her cargo to shift to starboard, giving her a heavy list, which, when the next swell came along, caused her to capsize, the vessel sinking in six fathoms of water, between the outer buoy and the N. Fifty souls all told were lost with her, including the Chinese captain and officers, $20,000 also going to the bottom, Owing to the heavy monsoon weather nothing could be done to attempt to raise her, but on Sunday last, the 4th inst, the Kong Nam made attempts to grapple her but did not suc ceed, as the weather, fine nt first, stiffened and the swell increased.
