The existing conditions naturally conduce to special vigilance, and it is reasonable to suppose that the Com- mander of H.M.S. Orea is not lacking in this respect. The appearance therefore of a cruiser following in his wake would naturally cause him to take special precautions, and in this spirit the Ocean was probably cleared for action. The idea that the pursuing

THE CURZON-PHOBIA.

The probability of Lord Curzon returning to India and holding office for another term of years, has set the Congress-wallahs in India all agog and driven most of their radical organs into hysterics. Here is the latest specimen from one of the Bengali Anglo-vernacular papers. The extract needs no coinment and is on a par with most of the blatant ebulitions of noisy demagogues, and savours, as * Parsee contemporary

the defence.
