A WOMAN WHO WORKS.
There is a story of a Monumental Artist who, being bidden to carve on a tombstone the well-
known text,
"A GOOD WOMAN IS A CROWN TO HER HUSBAND,"
found himself short of space, and ¡ut instead "is 58. to her husband" The life history of a clever woman and a good wife, who has certainly been worth many a crown to her husband, comes from a Welsh mining town. Mr. Mary Hands, well known at Merthyr Vale, keeps Greengrocery and General Shop for herself, and keeps it remarkably well, while her

It is none too easy a task in a good 15 woman of business and a good housewife as
well. Mrs. Hands is both. "To look after the shop is a pleasure," was her cheery summary of her feeling on the matter, and if she were asked to give up the business, she would asuredly regard the proposal with no favour. Dr. Williams' pink pills are what enable her to be so busy and so happy: and few who see No. 17, WONG Nei Chong Roa, facing her would think that she was once a tertible

Talking to the representative of a local news paper at her home (12 Aberfair-crescent, Merthyr Vale, Wales), Mrs. Hands, who is 27
years old, said:

The farther we get off Bible times the greater the proof of the Bible's truth. Exploration bas revealed to as not only the ruins of Biblical cities but has resulted in the discovery of | documentary evidence, as in Babylonia and Egypt, of the exactness of the inspired account. We have been taught that Babylonia was the scene of certain great things, and the present German expedition has actually recovered in- scribed tablets which are their verification. We
have read with dimmed eyes that exquisite drama of the Israelites in Egypt, and an English expedition has discovered the ruins of one of Joseph's granaries with the tally marks on the outer walls. We have marvelled over the story of the Finnd, but science has latterly shown that the submersion of the best part of Asia really occurred in the way of the Biblical record. It rained for forty days and forty nights: and the casual reader of his Bible conceives of a deluge that was caused by nothing else, and grows
sceptical. The Bible, however, speaks of the
waters of the sea and heavens in conjunction- The fountains of the deep were broken up"- verily of a tidal eruption acting in conjunction with a phenomenal rainfall, which science has proved really happened.

His name is William Craven, an agile, busy man, who wished to add to the reputation of Dr. Williams' pink pills, which bad travelled
much further, he said, than the best carrier" in and around Tranent.
Mr. Craven said: "But for them I would not have been able to work to-day. Four years ago, when at work on a farm, I began to have severe pains in my left leg, the pain shooting up from my toes to my hip, and do all could I could not get rid of it. At nights I was afraid to turn in my bed. I could not stand. If I tried to walk the effort caused me fearful agony.
"You see that wooden step by the door?
Well, I could not raise my foot over it. I was quite at a loss what to do. At last a friend said, 'Why don't you take Dr. Williams pink pills for pale people? They'll enrich your blood and so cure your rheumatism. I sent for a bottle, and they made new blood in me. wakened one morning without feeling the least signs of pain. I have not had the least sensation of a return of the rheumatism. Bo firm a believer am 1 now in Dr. Williams' pink pills that I recommend them to all the miners, as they are liable to rheumatism, and I know for a fact that many of them about here take these pills with the best results.
"I should have mentioned also that when | began to take Dr. Williams' pink pills I had no appetite; after a few doses of the pills I was always ready for my meals. I am quite well now, being able to go about with perfect ease."
Equaily wonderful is the conclusions come to by so many astronomers that the Star of Bethlehem was no fiction of a poetical his torian, but really shone over Sacred Manger, as described. The Holy Shroud, at which sceptics have laughed for centuries hae'recent ly been proved to show a perfect image of a crucified human form by means of the camera, the sheet having been unconsciously sensitised by the aloes used by Joseph, which, acting with the ammonical sweats of the body en closed produced an impression. Similarly with the Star of Bethlehem. It shone as related in the Bible, as it is now shining at the orbit of Uranus, as it will shine at the orbit of Saturn in 198, and at that of Jupiter in 1910, and as it will shine to all who live in this world in 1911 or in eight years from date. The Star of Bethlehem is believed now to be really Halley' comet, which m k'eg its circuit every seventy- five or seventy-six years, blazed over the Sacred Manger at the time of Christ's birth. An exact calculation, indeed, shows that it appeared there just eleven years before the date as now accepted, but is right to remember that there is no great certainty as to the year in which jesus was born. It was not until the year $32 of our era that the present system of Christian chronology was invented, the author of the fixture being Dionysius Exiguins, or "Dionysius the Little," a monk who was born in Scythia. It is quite possibles, consumption, gout, rheumatisin, sciatica, paralysis, and other disorders, are generally

"My other son, William," asked Mr. Craven, "has also been greatly benefited by them. He injured his arm in the pit, and a form of rheu matism ensued, which was cared by Dr. Williams' pink pills. He now works regularly every day."
Mr. Craven gave his unqualified permission for the interview to be published in the news- papers, and, indeed, such is the fame of the

Dr. Williams' pink pills for pale people, and he' I gave me some to try. I took the greater part of a bottle and in a fortnight they made a new man of me. I was able to go to work.
"And how is your health to-day 7"' was the next question.
Oh, I am much better," replied Mr. Hen shall, "I have a better appetite, my nerves are stronger, and I seem to have more vigour in me. Considering my age, I am feeling very fit indeed."
Mr. Henshall, asked if he had any objection to his story being published, said: "I have only told you what is true, and there can be no objection to that being published."
The experience of Mr. Henshall is that of many who have suffered from diseases arising from poor blood and shattered nerves-- anæmia, bile, consumption, eczema, headache, indigestion. kidney diseases, rheumatism, scrofula

there has been at some time a variation in the star's circuit, which would account for the slight discrepancy. Those people who have not read of Halley's comet can form no idea of its extraordinary magnificence, since all other comets, as viewed from the earth, are rendered dull by comparison.
The comet takes its name from Dr. Edmund Halley, who flourished at the time of Newton, and who saw it in 1612, when it appeared in the heavens like a miniature sun. As the re- suits of his calculations, he was able to foretell its next appearance in 1758, but owing to the influence of the planet Jupiter, in holding it back, it did not become again visible till 1759. Soon after various astronomers fixed its next appearance for 1835, and sure enough, it revealed itself once more to the earth, as it sped on its awful way, as illustrated in the little map, the blaze from it being such that, as we are told, many people were frightened."
