Felgsiness during the interval has been exceed- ingly limited, and we have nothing particular to remark thereon. The settlement, both here and in the North, passed off without any trouble, and the principal stocks in Shanghai, notably Farnhams and Langkats, have considerably strengthened their position. On the last page of this circular is appended the usual table showing the comparative value of local stocks on the 31st December for the past ten years. which, we think, will be found of interest. Among the stocks presenting the greatest change may be mentioned North Chinas, which show a rise of Tis. 421, followed by Hongkong Lands, which have depreciated during the year 31 points. Utions have gained $30, while the quotation for Hongkong Fires is $jo below that of the previous year. It now remains for us to ask all our readers to accept the compliments of the season and our wishes for their prosperity in the year 1904.
