The Near East.
LONDON, 25th September.. The Russian Government publishes au official note declaring that neither Turkey nor Bulgaria will receive support from any quarter if they secretly or openly resist the execution of the Austro-Russian reform scheme formulated in the spring with the ap: proval of the Powers. Austria has published a similar statement and adds that if these warnings are disregarded, whatever sacrifices Turkey or Bulgaria may make will be use. less, as the Powers are resolved to permit no change in the status quo.

Bulgaria yesterday demanded that the Porte withdrew or reduced the number of troops on the frontier. The Porte replied by complaining of the Bulgarian mobilisation.
Austria-Hungary, Loyalty to the throne has induced the Ministerialists in Hungary to accept the de- claration of the Emperor Francis, but the Kossuth party has provoked a frantic scene in the Diet, one deputy declaring that he had lost faith in the King's word.

Autumn Tour of the Viceroy of India.
26th September. In the autumn, the Viceroy of India will visit Muscat and the poris in the Persian Gull, escorted by the Admiral and a number of ships of the East Indian Squadron to in- spect the Indian political posts there and to visit the chiefs in the Arab shores who are in treaty with Great Britain. Sir Arthur Hardinge, British Minister at Teheran, will meet the Viceroy at the entrance of the Gulf.

THE SEQUEL..
There were several disturbances in various. parts of the town during the progress, of the strike, and the names of not a few intimidators appeared on the calendar at the Police Court this morning. One gang of men was sent to gaol fr two months with hard labour for assaulting a ricksha coolie with intent to hinder or pre- vent him from exercising his-lawful occupation as publiericksha driver, and was ordered to pay $5 compensation, or fourteen day's h rd labour for damaging a ricksha. In another instance, molies were fined for stone throwing and creating disturbances.
