At about 3.30 o'clock on the morning of August 1st, while running in a heavy sea, the Lai-fog was found to be leaking badly. At this in the vessel was off Laguan, Samer.. On sounding the wells it was found that three feet of water was in the fore hold. Both the steam and hand pumps were a arted, and the water was kept down until vessel reached Manila.
