On the 7th at 11.35 am. The depression is moving away from NE. Japan, where the barometer is row rising..
Pressure has given way considerably along the China coast and over the Loochoos, the depression lying over China yesterday having moved out to Sea to the S. of Shanghai this morning.-Wind probably freshening from NE in the Formosa Channel during the next 24 hours. Light S. and SE. winds over the N. part of the China Sea...
Forecast:-S. winds, moderate or light; fine at first, becoming unsettled later.

Meteorological signals are hoisted on the
mast beside the Time-ball at Kowloon Point
for the information of masters of vessels leaving the port. They do not imply that bad weather
is expected here:-
A DRUM indicates a typhoon to the East-
ward of the Colony, (ie, in the East
quadrant, N.E, to S.E.)
A BALL indicates a typhoon to the West- ward of the Colony, (fe, in the West
quadrant, S.W. to N.W.)
A CONE Point Upwards indicates a typhoon to the Northward of the Colony, (Le, in
the North quadrant, N.W. to N.E)
A CONE Point Downwards indicates 'n ty-
phoon to the Southward of the Colony, (e, in the South quadrani, S.E. to S.W),
Red Signals indicate that the centre is believ
ed to be more than 300 miles away from
the Colony..
Black Signals indicate that the centre is be
lieved to be less than 300 miles away
from the Colony.
NIGHT SIGNALS.

LOCAL STORN-WARNINGS.
The Colony itself is warned of approaching typhoons by means of the Typhoon Cun placed
at the foot of the mast, which is fired whenever
a strong gale of wind is expected to blow here.
