THE death is announced of Mr. Chas F. Tremlett, for many years H. B. M. Consul at Saigon. The late Mr. Tremlet, who died on April 11, was at the head of the firm of W. G. Hale and Co. Some thirty years ago he was in Singapore, with Mr. G. H. Dana, in the firm of T. Hodgson and Co. leaving that firm when Mr. Dana left the Colony. An inspection of the 1864 Directory shows the name of Mr. Tremlett as a clerk in the firm of Hutchinson and Co., of Flint-st, which makes his connection with the East extend to nearly forty years.
