PLAGUE STAUSTICS.
The return giving the number of cases of communicable diseases which have been
notified as occurring in the Colony of Hong $10.50 $1.40 kong, during the week ended Saturday, 25th inst. show that plague continues to increase 2.00 while other contagious diseases are con- 2.25 spicuous by their almost entire absence. 2.50 During the week under review the plague 3.50 roll was swelled by an additional 79 cases with 72 deaths. A RUMOUR was current along the Shanghai water-front that the expert of coal from any point in Japan to Shanghai had been stopped, on account of too great quantities of it getting into the hands of Russian agents there. The local Times says the ramour could not be traced, nor was it known as a fact, that a single ounce of Japanese coal had been bought by Russian agents there, but certainly in the last few days there had been a falling off in the number of coal-boats discharging from Japan.
