An interesting case came on for hearing this morning when the Chief Justice, Sir W. M, Goodman, held a publ c examination into the affairs of Mr. Osman. Mahomed Madar, a clerk in the Ordnance Store Department with a salary of Stro per month. It transpired in his examination before the Official Receiver, that since 1894 he had either been borrowing money to meet his personal requirements or had been backing promissory notes for his friends. He got into debt in March, 1899, with Mr. F. S. Joseph to the extent of $700 by signing an order for the payment to hims of that amous! by way of brokerage for negotiating a loan for a friend in Canton. Debtor, said he had been paying the Official Receiver $10 per month since 1899, and could not pay: more than 50 per cent of his debts without distressing himself. He had five children, the el lest being 12 years of age. All the creditors iad agreed to the composition, and Mr. Joseph. was willing t take sa per cent without costs”
