I suppose the tumors of new treaties between England and China have reached you in some form or other. I have tried to trace the origin of the reports but the furthest I can get is to the Birmingham Post which printed the following:-
"There is good reason to believe that the present year will witness the conclusion of another treaty between England and China, and that it will be designed to promote in a peculiarly effective mayner, commerce between India, Burmah, and the Chinese-Central and Southern provinces. It is, of course, too early to give any details, but the matter is understood to be closely engaging the attention of the Imperial and Indian Governments, with the assistance of Sir Ernest. Satow, the British Minister to Chisa, who is now in England."

of the NORDDEUTSCHER LLOYD, having arrived, Consignees of Cargo are hereby informed that their Goods, with the exception of Opium, Treasure and Valuables, are being landed and stored at their risk into the Godowns of the Hongkong and Kowloon. Wharf and Godown Company, Limited, Kowloon, whence delivery may be obtained.
Optional Cargo will be forwarded' unless notice to the contrary be given before 11 A.M., TO-DAY.
No Claims will be admitted after the Goods have left the Godowns, and all Goods remaining undelivered after the 12th instant will be subject to rent.
All broken, chafed, and damaged Goods are to be left in the Godowns, where they will be examined on THURSDAY, the 13th instant, at 9:30 AM
All Claims must reach us before the 16th instant, or they wilknot be recognized.
No Fire Insurance has beer effected. Bills of Lading will be countersigned by the Undersigned.
