It provides for the free and equal navigation of the Canal by the merchantmen and warships of all nations similar to the Suez Canal. The question of fortifications is not mentioned.

MISS HOBHOUSE, who was lately in South Africa, has been arrested there, and; it is presumed, deported that is to say, placed in a vessel now on its way from the Cape to England. Her friends have received no further particulars of the event. She was attended by one lady companion, who has been "deported" with her.
