The performance last night was patronized by Their Excellencies the Governor and Major. General Gascoigne, besides all the leading meas bersofthe Continental community in Hongkong, there being also quite a fair sprinkling of British- ers present. The performers, three in number, Mons. Daran amd Mlles, G. Vasti and J. Lorig have to be complimented on theirpluckinengig ing a large halt, without stage or the aid of scenery and giving a successful performence. Although many of the audience could not quite catch the meaning of the words all were charmed by the "singing of these talented performers. A variety entertainment was given, including two operettas, " Prolo and Pietro," (Miles, Vašti, and Long) and “Les Pantins de Violette," by the members of the | Company, the remainder of the programnice being filled up with solos by each member. Mr. Daron's comicalities are eccentric and with his facial expressions it is quite easy to follow the drift of the song he is singing. Mile. Vasti has a fine soprano voice which she keeps in complete control, and Mlte. Lorig fairly captures the hearts of her heaters by her vivacity and chic.
We beleive another performance will be given nest Saturday, the company laying made ar- rangements to appear in Canton in the interim.
