SNUFF-TAKERS will be interested to know that some of the richest Chinamen use a snuff that is worth as much as a million dollars a posed. They buy the snuff originally from Portugal, where some of the manufacturers have old-
time receipes, and charge from $200 to $800 pound for it on this sccount, The Chinese value this snuff very highly, preserving it for years and years in beautiful bottles or jars of porcelain, fade and agate, some of which are worth as much as $1000. As the legal rate of Interral in China in 32 per cent, it is not Im possible to believe that some of the aid snoff in the Flowery Kingdom is worth (theoretically at ¡eas) as much as $1,000,000.
