• STILL they come, says the Kobe Chrestela. Another batch of seventy-eight Korean coolles kus arrived in Japan to work as miners in Karatro, because of the "carcity of Japanese labour. At present we have a class of Ameri- caa poltticizos raising the alarm of a threatened conquest of Kawall by Japin in view of the con- stant leflox of Japanese emigrants; we shall next hear about a threatened conquest of Japan by Karen | Ittsrema-kable that side by side with the apnouncement that Korean labourers are being brought over to Japan to work in the cost mines, is the news that there is a surplus of labour in Japan. An Osaka paper states that owing to the constant rise in the pilco of the mecenaries of Hié, agricultural labourers have been coming Into the towns to seek more lucrativo employ ment than they can obtafa fa the country dluricts. Bat the factories, which a faw weeks ago wore suffering from a scarcity of labour, sie now suff:ring from a depression of trade, and lo some cases the number of bands is being reduced rather than lacressed, so that for the time being, at least, the labour market to placas lika Osaka is somewhat congested,
