The point that specially struck ros was the fact that the Post Office letter-carrier ad mitted leaving a registered letter with the "boy" at Mr. Humphreys'private residence and obtained Do receipt therefor! He agreed to call for it #jo-morrow.". Is this sort of thing a common occurence in Hongkong? If so, it të no wonder that an many letters are lost to this department of the public service. This was an apeal from the judgment of the Palrae Judge in the Summary Court, in the came of Wing Cheang Leung v. Ching Yast Ting, in which judgment was given for the plaintiff, for the sum claimed, $262.61.

Mr. H. E. Pollock, instructed by Mr.J. F. Reece, appeared for the appellant, who was defendant in the lower court, and had obtained leave to bring the sult a parte under section 41 of the Summary Furlidiction Ordinanca, No. 14 ત 1873. The polat is dispate was, according to Mr. Pollock's argument, whether the defendant personally lable for goods supplied to the shop. The defendant stated that he bought the goods as 'manager of the Yast Ching shop, but the soft was brought against him individually.
