A RECENT despatch from London states that the publication of the Government Board of Trade returns for 1893 bas produced a profound Impression throughout the country, and has deepened the gloom caused by the present com- mercial depression. The total imports last year were 6405,069 694, compared with 413,763,882 In 1993 and 6435 441, 64 in 1891. The value of British exports in 1803 was £118,496,246 compared with 177,077,053 in 1863 and 27.235.150 in 1891, an apparent balance galast the country of 137,617,8ga in 1893. against 116,409,yat in 1891.
